By checking the Gift Aid box, you are confirming you are a UK tax payer and understand that if you pay less income tax than the value of your Gift Aid it is your responsibility to pay the difference.

There’s a surprising number of ways to support our work. If you’d like to go it alone or work together on something (we hope) we’ve got the opportunity for you! Your contribution could be changing lives for the better.

Internship – flexible in time, duration and duties. Our interns shape their own workload contributing to some of the most vital parts of our operations. Any age, level or experience is welcome.

We also offer internships. One of our volunteers, Izzy, chose to do an internship (she enjoyed her volunteering experience that much) – tailored to meet the three weeks she had available. Click the button to find out what she got up to.

Volunteer

In order for this expansion to be successful, it is vital that ZET effectively publicizes and promotes its work through social media and implements an ongoing sustainable fundraising strategy.

We are looking for highly motivated volunteers with a passion to empower children and young people trapped in poverty living in Zimbabwe. We are a local Yorkshire based charity with an office in central Leeds.

Can you volunteer a minimum of 1 day per week for a month to help grow ZET’s work with its partners in Zimbabwe?

Zimbabwe Educational Trust greatly benefits from the time, effort and dedication of its volunteers. Whatever your interest or area of specialty (if you have one) there will be a role for you within our organisation. Here are some of the areas that our volunteers currently work in:

· Social Media (Upkeep of platforms such as Twitter and Facebook; providing up-to-date content and news, using social media platforms to promote our organisation and expand our audience, and using platforms to gain donations, recruit volunteers and more)

· Fundraising (Conducting research into various funding bodies and assessing how suitable they are for a funding application from ZET; Contributing to the development of funding proposals; Sending off funding proposals; Development and upkeep of current and new fundraising platforms, such as Global-Giving and Givey, to raise funds and awareness for ZET’s activities; Putting on events, street fundraising, corporate partnerships and more)

· Communications and Marketing (including website content)

· Monitoring and Evaluation (Assisting in defining the frameworks through which we judge our projects; Analysing data (qualitative and quantitative) to show project effectiveness)

· Event Planning and Management

· Accounting and Finance

· Volunteer Recruitment

· IT

And more!

Why Volunteer with ZET?

At ZET, we offer a great deal of flexibility to our volunteers. You don’t have to stick to just one role; some overlap, and you are free to change role if you fancy doing something different. Furthermore, if your area of specialty/interest is not covered in these more specific roles, there is the scope to discuss with the Operations Manager a role that is more suitable to you. We want to make sure that you enjoy your experience and get something out of it, so don’t hesitate to get in touch and find out how else you can get involved.

We are a small charity, and this makes our volunteers’ experience unique; their work has a big impact and volunteers are given genuine responsibilities. For this reason, volunteering at ZET is a great way to enhance your CV and boost your career prospects (if you happen to be at that stage in your career); such hands-on experience will help you develop a range of skills in your area of interest. Not only this, but volunteers work closely with ZET’s Operations Manager, gaining a broad and deep insight into the work of an international development, non-profit organisation. This makes volunteering for ZET particularly suitable for those with an interest in International Development/International Affairs and a career in the third sector, or someone who wants to gain first-hand experience in the operations of a non-profit organisation.

Not to mention that whilst benefitting from this, you will simultaneously be working for a great cause (see our website for more on the vital work we do and the impact we make)! Where and when? Volunteer meetings take place every second Wednesday from 3pm-5pm in the local Leeds area. If this is not convenient for you, working from home is also possible. The lives of vulnerable people in Zimbabwe have been made harder by COVID-19, the Ukrainian war, Zimbabwe’s unstable economy and other intersecting domestic and global factors. We need your support. Our ability to help is under severe threat

Why support ZET?

ZET is a small diaspora-led organisation; our overheads are low and our links to the communities where we work are strong. This means we really can maximise the value of your donations. Over the last year, The UK’s Department for International Development awarded ZET A+ grade for our work with Trinity Project – praising our impact, our value for money, and our ability to reach the most vulnerable in society.

As well as fundraising, we provide our partners with essential support in financial and project management. Your monthly donations are central to this support: regular donations enable ZET and our partners to plan ahead and budget with more confidence. This planning is central to achieving sustainable impact.

As a monthly donor, you would be central to the work of ZET in supporting our partners. 80% of the funding ZET receives will go directly to our partners, forging a lifeline to vulnerable communities in Zimbabwe. The final 20% supports ZET’s modest running costs to maintain high levels of project management and monitoring, enabling our partners to not only continue their important work, but reach out and help far more people to lift themselves out of poverty.
